Jacqueline Thomas

Treasurer

I am currently the Treasurer of The Tau Omega Charitable Trust Fund, Incorporated.  I have also served in the capacity of the Financial Secretary for over a decade. I am, in addition, a twenty-five-year member of the Tau Omega Chapter, a proud Silver Star Soror, and Life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  I hold a B.S. in Psychology, an M.S. in Education, and a Professional Diploma in School Supervision and Administration.

I served as an educator in the New York City public school system for over thirty-five years and as an Elementary School Principal during my last decade of service. Following my retirement, I served as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College for six years preparing aspiring teachers for the nation’s schools.

My professional skill-set includes competencies in organization and administrative management.  Along with these acquired skills I have employed effective communication and inter-personal capabilities in the performance of my volunteer duties as a Member-at-Large officer and as a Fundraising Committee member for my Tau Omega Chapter.

I have a passion for the visual and performing arts.  Living in metropolitan New York affords me the opportunity to enjoy theater, museums, book centered engagements, and a myriad of other cultural events throughout the year.  Travel is also high on my list of passionate pursuits.

In concert with the theme of my beloved sorority, “Service to All Mankind,” I have participated in volunteer-driven voter registration initiatives as well as numerous Tau Omega Chapter drives (e.g., clothing, food, and fundraising) in partnership with community-based organizations identified by the Chapter as serving the greater Harlem, NY, community.

My work with Tau Omega Chapter and with my cherished sorors, in particular, fills me with a deep sense of purpose and personal fulfillment—an experience I look forward to continuing and enhancing in the years ahead.
