Charlene Skipwith-Luke

Charlene Skipwith –Luke is a former resident of Harlem, New York. Her family moved to Greenburgh, White Plains, New York, where she attended Woodlands High School. Charlene is a proud member of the first graduation class. She currently resides in Mount Vernon, New York with my husband Alfred of 44 years. She and her husband are the proud parents of their daughter Heather and grandparents of two granddaughters Savitri and Aislin.

Charlene studied at both the City College of New York and Teacher’s College at Columbia University. Earning a Bachelor’s of Psychology and Masters of Science degree in Education from City College.

In her previous position as Senior Associate Director of Human Resources, she was responsible for Post Graduate Medical Education Orientation and New York City Health & Hospital Corporation Orientation Policies, which were provided by the Training & Development in the Northern Manhattan Network. She began her professional career as a special needs adult educator, and Associate Director for The Department of Psychiatry, Harlem Rehabilitation Center, Sickle Cell Anemia Program, with Harlem Hospital Center College of Physicians & Surgeons and the New York City Board of Education Adult Education WIN Program. Ms. Skipwith-Luke was the Health Care Administrator of Staff Training and Development for Generations+/Northern Manhattan Network, which encompassed Harlem Hospital Center, Lincoln Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital, and the Renaissance Health Care Network. Prior to this position, she was one of thirteen fellows selected for the inaugural cohort program for New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation’s one-year Employee Management Fellowship Program.

Ms. Skipwith-Luke is a 55 year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is considered a Golden member and has worked in various capacities to support the chapter’s growth and progress. She worked on numerous committees over the years, including Bylaws, Finance, World Community, and Standards Committee. Also served as Graduate Advisor to the undergraduate chapter, Lambda, located in New York City. Ms. Skipwith-Luke also served on the Cluster and Regional levels.

Charlene is retired and enjoying a new life. Throughout the years she has held membership in various community based organizations. During her free time, she enjoys action movies, water sports, walking, plays, spending time with friends and family.
