Our Story
We have been in existence since 1968 and are currently managed by a Board of Trustees with varied and diverse professional and community backgrounds.
We have the distinction of being the first 501(c)(3) organization in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Our scholarship program has been in continuous existence since the beginning and recently enhanced to include named endowed scholarships. Browsing through our site will give you a glimpse of how we fund service projects in the Harlem community, as well as support local community-based organizations.
Our program of Scholarship, Service, and Support fulfills our mission:
- To receive and disburse funds to support the endeavors of community-based organizations.
- To encourage the growth of young people through mentoring and financial support of their educational endeavors with the award of scholarships.
- To receive cash, property, and securities by way of gift, bequest, or devise from any person, firm, trust, or corporation to be held, administered, and disposed of in accordance with the purposes of the Corporation.
